Resident permit

Before coming to Denmark, you should be aware that different rules apply depending on whether you come from one of the Nordic countries, a European country or a country outside of Europe.

Nordic Citizen

Citizens from the Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden do not need a resident permit to stay in Denmark. However, you must bring your passport with you if you wish to be registered as a Danish resident. You should also bring your Nordic registration number.

Residence permit for non-EU citizens

If you are not an EU citizen, you must have both a resident and work permit to live and work in Denmark.
