In Aalborg, there are multiple educational institutions. Aalborg University and the University College of Northern Denmark (UCN) are the two largest institutes of higher education.

As an international student, it is possible to apply for study grants from the State Education Fund during your studies in Denmark.

Aalborg University

Aalborg University has over 19,000 students enrolled in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Aalborg University has an International Office, where international students can go with questions about studying at the university.

UCN has about 8,500 students in its applied professional (AP) and bachelor degree programmes. The institution offers programmes in business, teaching, health and technology.

SU is financial aid paid by the State, to which Danish students are entitled during their studies. The State Education Fund assesses whether you, as an international student, satisfy the requirements for receiving SU. You pay tax on SU financial aid, which is deducted before the funds are deposited in your bank account (NemKonto). As an international student, you can enquire as to whether you are entitled to SU.
